Food fun, yum! We love meal times!
We see a lot of clean plates!
At Next Steps, food plays a large part in the routine of our day, so we use it as a means to offer the children sensory and social experiences. The children grow their own fruit and veg in the garden, as well experiencing buying produce from shops. They get involved in our menus, baking, and in the making of meals; sometimes even enjoying new flavours from around the world, but always eating healthy, well balanced and nutritional meals. All meals are home cooked, healthy and nutritious, and children are encouraged, whenever possible, to help choose and prepare ingredients for meals and snacks. Staff always sit with the children during mealtimes, to encourage table time talk and to praise good table manners.
We can cater for all children’s dietary requirements. Graded the highest food hygiene – Level 5

Free play to flow inside and out...
At Next steps, we are passionate about outside play and learning. We have a free-flow play philosophy, so children can move inside and out making their own choices about how they spend their play time.
Our inside play room is connected to the outside area, so the children are well supervised at all times. We have a hard-standing area that the children can ride around on bikes, scooter, cars and push buggies around. There is a large play house where the children can enjoy role play. We also have a large grassed area where the children can grow fruit, vegetables and flowers. We love breathing in the fresh air, playing games and enjoying the freedom.
